Fourth Grade

Grade four Art students are prepared for in-depth art studies in the areas of ceramics, perspective, color and design.  Art concepts and techniques provide the tools students use to put imagination and personal expression into visual terms.  Students work both 2- and 3-dimensionally.

Grade four students will
  • Create ceramic pieces using the coil technique.
  • Learn basic color theory including a review of all vocabulary previously introduced.
  • Use color to create monochromatic, analogous, and complimentary color schemes in paintings and drawings.
  • Extend their ability to create visual depth.
  • View and discuss the work of artists and craftspeople whose products exemplify the themes and concepts being studied.
