STAFF SNOWFLAKES!!

Recently, some of the Peter Noyes staff members participated in a snowflake workshop. The creations are on display outside the art room. During the week, students are voting for their favorite snowflake. Who will win "snowflake bragging rights?" Stay tuned.

Which is your favorite?

Can you make one? Here is a video for the proper way to fold a snowflake to achieve 6 spokes.

Have fun!

Grade Three Portrait Collages

The third grade students learned that human eyes are located halfway between the top of the head and the bottom of the chin. It is very common for beginning artists (young and old) to inadvertently place the eyes higher on the forehead. After drawing a few portraits, students were instructed to design a portrait collage. Students were asked to choose a skin tone closest to their own, but the artwork did not have to be a self-portrait. They did an amazing job! Well done, third graders!

Rainbow Mural

We had started off the year with an inspiring quote by Maya Angelou. The quote, "Be a rainbow in somebody else's cloud," encourages the reader to spread kindness to others, especially to those who may be feeling down. The mural we created is on display in the Peter Noyes hallway with Angelou's image and her quote. Every student in grades K-5 created a square with a unique design and a limited range of one color. When displayed together, the mini artworks form an eye catching rainbow mural.
